Abstract

Nino Haratischwili’s family saga “My Gentle Twin” tells us about two couples’ romantic and tragic love stories. Simultaneously, the author depicts the social, political and cultural life of the 90-s of the XX century Georgia.

Nino Haratischwili as an eyewitness of the wars and revolutions in Georgia, the collapse of the Soviet system and the transition period of an independent country. She uses archive materials in order to describe what she saw and felt with maximum accuracy. She became the best presenter of her country in German speaking world.
