Literary Text as Prophecies
Abstract
The novel by Aka Morchiladze depicts the situation of the 90s of the 20th century in Tbilisi.
Two layers are traced in the novel: a banal melodramatic plot and an intertextual plan. The events depicted in the first layer under the influence of the second plan acquire the features of an unreliable narrative.
In addition, the plot, parts of which are usually associated with causal and temporal relationships, is presented in the form of isolated periods of time (subjective times). This mosaic narrative creates the effect of the decay of global time and further enhances the tragic context of the novel by Aka Morchiladze.
