Abstract

St. Serapion of Thmuis, a disciple of Anthony the Great, provides an especially rich corpus regarding the life and ascetic labors of the blessed Macarius.
A keimenic edition of the saint's life has survived in Georgian, with the author being anonymous.
The Old Georgian translation of the Life of Macarius the Great has survived in the form of a few manuscript copies.
Analogies to biblical characters appear many times throughout the work.
Two forms of ascetic labor have been well-defined within the work.
Many miracles performed by Blessed Macarius have been included in the “Life”.
