Abstract

The article analyzes the development of Turkish literature, taking into account global literary processes. The research focuses on both internal and external literary factors, which are, in turn, shaped by historical and geocultural circumstances. Two significant cultural spheres that greatly influenced the development of Turkish literature are identified: Islamic culture and civilization, and European culture and civilization. These two distinct cultures and civilizations positioned Turkish literature in a "threshold"
stance, reflecting a crisis within literature and society. This crisis can be assessed as a result of an unresolved threshold, trauma, and dual discourse. Within the scope of the article, our research is limited to medieval and Tanzimat literature.
