Reflection of Classic „Pandemic“ Texts on Contemporary Literary Process
Abstract
19th Century Paris - The Center of the World Culture - due to its bohemian lifestyle and sexual experimentsalso faced the challenge of a venereal disease - syphilis . Syphilis, naturally, was also reflected in the literature and connected with the central concepts of symbolist aesthetics - city-megapolis, drugs, bohemia.
The purpose of our article is to explore the French Symbolist tradition, in particular, the form and character of the syphilis theme in the works of Charles Baudelaire.
