Death in Relation to Collective Punishment (On the Example of Georgian Literature)

Abstract

The Covid pandemic that is raging in the world has made humanity think not only about the means of survival, but also about the existential issue in general: On the problem of death and the meaning of human existence. Forms of “Untimely death” in real life and in literature are also associated with collective punishment, which is mainly manifested during war, pandemic epidemic and natural disasters. Based on literary examples, it becomes clear that it is the understanding of the collective punishment that can give a person a focused reflection on the phenomenon of death, because at this time the individual and collective perceptions of danger intersect.
