Abstract

Sickness in Georgian folk tales is of two types: real illness and false illness, when one or another character of the fairy tale pretends to be ill. The real illness is found in meny Georgian magic fairy tales. for example: “Shepherd Blind Daeva and weaver’s disciple”; “Bernadze’s son”; “The tale of the king’s wife, that the serpent gave birth” and others. Animal tales are also interesting in this regard., in “Dog Language” the devil is a magician who causes illness, and when he gets away from the sick, the sick person also recovers. False sickness, when one or another character of the fairy tale gets sick with evil intentions, is found in magic tales: “Cinderella”, “Nine brothers and one sister” and in the animal fairy tale “Tsikara”.
